GIVING HOTEL GUESTS THE PDA KNOW-HOW

Hotel guests in the UK will be given tips on how to access free WiFi via their PDAs, as part of a new ‘Switch’ initiative from WiFi provider, Airangel.

Hotel guests are already familiar with accessing free WiFi services from a laptop, but less so when it comes to connecting via a PDA.  However a simple change to mobile phone and PDA settings could see guests enjoy free access, making significant financial savings.

Chris Airey, the operations director of Airangel said: “There’s hundreds of thousands of PDAs in circulation in the UK yet most hotel guests don’t know they can use them to access free WiFi.
“Just a few simple changes to PDA settings could give them access, instead of footing the bill via their mobile phone contract.”

Airangel has developed the ‘Switch’ campaign, which comprises fact sheets and one-to-one training, to help its hotel clients educate guests on how to switch and make the most of free internet.  The WiFi provider has also promised full 24/7 support for hotel guests’ technical queries.

Chris added: “WiFi provision is a key part of a hotel’s offer and is one of the main deciding factors about where to stay.
Hoteliers need to ensure their services are widely accessible and educating guests on how to access WiFi from a PDA is a great added-value message.

“For hoteliers themselves, WiFi is more than just a guest service.  It’s a means for further dialogue with its guests, be it through targeted offers or wider marketing deals.  Increasing traffic through the portal benefits both the guest and the hotel - it’s a win-win situation.”

Airangel is the UK’s leading provider of branded wired and wireless guest internet access solutions and does not take a share of the revenues its WiFi services generate.   More than 12,000 guest rooms across the UK offer WiFi services courtesy of Airangel including big names Malmaison, De Vere and Radisson Blu.
