Every day there are stories in the press how criminals are hacking into public WiFi networks in order to steal usernames, passwords and other personal information. In addition, some of the “community” public WiFi providers are selling their users’ online data and related information to 3rd party advertising agencies.

We’ve chosen to take this opportunity to become an ethical provider of WiFi solutions, taking an active stance in protecting your guest’s privacy and security online.
Traditional WiFi providers employ a business model whereby they make money from selling their users’ online profile and behaviour to 3rd party advertising companies. When the user signs up to use the public WiFi they sign up to the terms and conditions that allow these WiFi providers to sell this user information.
The Genisys platform is Airangel’s differentiator in a crowded WiFi market. Genisys allows for Airangel’s Clients to gather information about their guests whilst they are accessing the Internet in their venue. This data enables the Client to get a better understanding of their guest’s preferences and behaviours, ultimately allowing them to get closer to their guests and enhance the online experience. Conversely, Airangel recognizes the importance of personal privacy and security when online. Airangel allows for the venue to offer their guests a variety of device downloads that can protect their privacy when accessing the Internet from a public WiFi space.
Serve & Protect
We SERVE our Clients with information about their Guests that enables venues to get closer to their customers, enhancing the online experience and build loyalty. We do this by collecting and securely storing the information provided by Guests when authenticating through the service. This can be anything from name, email, gender, age, mobile number, but it’s always determined by our Clients as part of the registration / login experience.
We PROTECT your Guests by allowing them to download software that protects their device from the worst of WiFi threats. We do this by offering access to software security programmes that enable Guests to get internet security for all of their devices.
To this end, we will be changing the re-direction page (i.e. the page that your guests are presented with upon successful connection to the Internet) to show the Serve & Protect logo, along with an option for your guests to download protective software to their device(s). This service can and should be promoted by you as a significant value add: putting your guests’ privacy first.
